iPhone 17 Pro Max still packs an A19 Pro chip, 6.9-inch 120Hz display and 48MP cameras, but the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max could bring A20 Pro, variable aperture and a bigger battery.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is entering an unusual phase in India. Apple’s current flagship still starts at ₹1,49,900 officially, but buyers can find better prices through retail offers. Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected in September 2026 with a 2nm A20 Pro chip, camera upgrades and possible battery gains. The bigger twist is Apple’s reported split launch strategy, with the Pro models arriving first while the regular iPhone 18 could come later.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max remains a serious flagship rather than an ageing model. It has a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion, A19 Pro silicon, an 18MP Center Stage camera and a 48MP Pro Fusion camera system covering the main, ultra-wide and telephoto cameras. Apple rates it for up to 37 hours of video playback.
